My article on a huge Southern Illinois basketball upset of the Wichita State Shockers. Senior T.J. Lindsay scored a team high 14 points coming off the bench. “We’re not in the game if T.J. doesn’t hit those three at the end of the first half,” said SIU coach Barry Hinson. The energy and excitement in the SIU Arena was intense and the game had the feel of a playoff game.
This is a story I did on Jeff Early who had an interesting path to the collegiate basketball ranks. He was the leading rebounder for players under 6-foot-1 as a senior on the Southern Illinois Men’s basketball team. As a junior college transfer, Early had proven himself by leading his team to the national tournament. He hasn’t disappointed in Division-I basketball either.
http://issuu.com/gusbode/docs/jqgnmi/10 A story I did on the Southern Illinois equestrian team. All of the members of the team helped put the event together even though everyone was not able to participate in the event. It was the first time I had been that close to a horse but the animals were as friendly as the gracious human members of the E-team.
One of my most cherished columns on the infamous “Touch-ception.” The Seattle Seahawks appeared to have lost the game against the Green Bay Packers, when officials ruled that an interception caught by a Packer’s player was actually initially caught by a Seahawk.
